{"id":82,"date":"2011-04-05T10:28:12","date_gmt":"2011-04-05T10:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stcharlestownship.org\/dev\/?page_id=82"},"modified":"2011-04-26T16:15:12","modified_gmt":"2011-04-26T16:15:12","slug":"mailbox-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.stcharlestownship.org\/index.php\/road\/mailbox-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Mailbox Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following Postal Service guidelines apply to the installation of a rural style mailbox on a post in front of your home.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom to the mailbox should be forty-two (42) inches above the ground.\u00a0 The front of the mailbox should be twelve (12) inches in from the back of the curb, or edge of the road or shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>Posts should be 4&#215;4 inch wood posts or a two (2) inch, thin wall, steel pipe.<\/p>\n<p>Mailboxes closer than eight (8) inches or protruding into the street are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT ACCEPTABLE<\/span>.\u00a0 Posts larger than 4&#215;4, such as railroad ties or mailboxes in brick piers are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT ACCEPTABLE<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>If installed properly and mailbox is damaged by Township equipment when snowplowing, we will replace it with a \u201cstandard\u201d 4&#215;4 wood post and support.\u00a0 If it does not conform to the above guidelines, the Township will not be held responsible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following Postal Service guidelines apply to the installation of a rural style mailbox on a post in front of your home.
