{"id":79,"date":"2011-04-05T10:25:42","date_gmt":"2011-04-05T10:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stcharlestownship.org\/dev\/?page_id=79"},"modified":"2011-05-11T17:37:17","modified_gmt":"2011-05-11T17:37:17","slug":"snow-ice-removal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.stcharlestownship.org\/index.php\/road\/snow-ice-removal\/","title":{"rendered":"Snow &#038; Ice Removal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Charles Township begins plowing and salting the roadways at an inch or more of snow, with salting behind the plow.\u00a0 We keep going until the storm is done.<\/p>\n<p>For ice control we start salting as soon as it starts to freeze on the surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>The township doesn\u2019t have a parking ban for snow control, but the state does.\u00a0 We ask for your cooperation with keeping your cars off the street until a storm is done and your street has been plowed and widened.\u00a0 It may save you a costly ticket and tow charge.<\/p>\n<p>Our crews do not intentionally plow in your driveway or do we aim at your mailbox. Our snow plows discharge snow to the curbside of the street and inevitably into your driveways.\u00a0 If you can delay cleaning out the end of your driveway until the street is plowed you\u2019ll save yourself several shoveling trips.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is a violation of Illinois Law to plow, push, blow or in anyway place snow upon a public road, from adjoining property.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Please<\/span>, shovel driveway ends to the sides.\u00a0 If you plow into the roadway, you are liable for all incidents, which may result.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Occasionally a snow or heavy slush from a snowplow will knock down a mailbox.\u00a0 Most mailboxes, if they are placed and installed properly, will withstand the snow or slush up against them.\u00a0 If they are however, knocked down, the township will only replace mailboxes with the standard mailbox and a 4&#215;4 wood post, or we will reimburse the homeowner $25.00 towards a new one.\u00a0 See mailbox guidelines in this booklet for the acceptable installation standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St. Charles Township begins plowing and salting the roadways at an inch or more of snow, with salting behind the plow.\u00a0 We keep going until the storm is done.
